Photo Contest Friday!

This week's action shot winner is...

This shot, simply called "The father in law" is just the kind of action we all dream of as little girls on our big day. :)

Well Done Tena!!!

Thanks again for the fabulous entries! Keep em rollin!

Someone wrote in and asked a great question... Does the photo have to be taken during the week of the contest. The short answer is: ideally, but not necessarily.
The idea of Photo Contest Friday is really an excuse to get out and shoot. No client to please, no professor to impress, just a chance for you to go out and focus on one specific aspect of this amazing medium. I know I was a lot more creative in college when I had assignments to focus my attention as opposed to now, walking around, directionless, waiting for something to catch my eye.

So with that in mind, this week we're taking it old school. That's right, this week is the challenge is simply

Terribly sorry everyone! I've been in the mountains and without internet all weekend! (Don't worry, I somehow survived.) I'll end the suspense of the 1st contest tomorrow when I can FINALLY upload it.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Olivia's first close up

My dear friend from college, Mariana, recently gave birth to a GORGEOUS little girl named Olivia. Since we both have migrated south from Missouri, I suspect this will just be the first of many opportunities to photograph her beautiful children.

Big brother Dominic works it for the camera

Awe.... she's got mama's eyes

Oh man, my geek is showing

Hooray! The highly anticipated Pocket Wizard TT1 is finally mine! It's great, I can mount the flash right on it's hot shoe & still trigger my remote flash rigged up to the classic Pocket Wizard plus II.  (Get really fancy and rig it to the Flex TT5 for some surround sound ETTL action) I shoot Canon, but they also have a Nikon version. Only tricky part: for both flashes to fire, the on camera flash has to be set to "Master" and the remote flash not set on anything, just manual mode. (That even stumped Pocket Wizard tech support at first, but we finally figured it out) Now it's all systems go!
